(i searched archives but couldnt really find anything)

I have a 95 contour GL (2.5 V6 duratec)
Was driving earlier today and all of a sudden, the low oil light turned on and the engine turned off (didnt stall it).Luckily i was in the rightmost lane so when the car turned off I turned right onto a little street, and straightened it out againced a curb.tried starting it, and the engine just wouldnt run.

Called a towing company and was dropped off at my mechanics.as soon as the car was lowered, it started up normally! P!ssed me off, the tow truck guy told the mechanic and me that he thought it might be a the fuel pump and that when the car is towed, because it bounces the fuel pump reopens(somethign like that).mechanic said it might be the fuel pump, couldnt be sure since it ran fine, he told me to leave it there until monday so he can check it out

if i didnt explain somethign well enough, im sorry for my lack of technical automotive phrases , i will clarify if anyone asks

I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem, and if it happened to be the fuel pump , how much it cost to fix?

I had a problem like that. i shut the car off and tried to restart it like 10 seconds later and it didnt start. Do you remember when you turned the key to the on position if you heard a 5 second sound coming from behind you, cause that would be the fuel pump presurizing the fuel system. If you dont hear that sound, the fuel pump is bad. Hope this helps in some way.

i might be fuel relatedd???? but it might just be the fuel pump relay or a loose wire on the fuel line.. the mechanic can test it when it does not start.. he would put a fuel pump tester(cost about $40.00 from autozone.... attach it to the fuel line via a hose and crank it up.. if no pressure then the fuel pump is not pumping.. but that does not mean a bad fuel pump.. the fuel pump need electricity to work..... he then goes further done the line and checks and see if he has voltage to the pump.. if he does then it is probably the fuel pump.. if not then its the wiring to the pump or the relay or in some cases the contacts on them, including the relay and the ignition switch... if he is a decent mechanic then he can find the problem.. if it works sometimes and sometimes does not work then even a decent mechanic will have a problem finding the problem unless it fails to operate when he has it and is testing it...
