I just bought what was advertised as an authentic B&M shifter for my svt tour. How can you tell if it is a genuine B&M and not one of the many knock offs on ebay. what features or serial numbers are specific to the B&M? any help would be appreciatted

The real B&M comes in a B&M box, instructions, parts, shift tower, and the B&M logo shift knob.

Did you happen to buy it from ebay? Price is a good indicator...How much did you pay?

allright, here the deal, i bought it on ebay. This guy said it was an authentic B&M. Here is the link web page I figured it was just a slightly used shifter so I paid $68 for it. From this ad it is pretty clear he is not selling one of the cheap $20 ones but an "authentic" B&M. Well I just received it and it looks kind of cheap. The knob does have B&M on it which right away made me suspicious. The stick itself does not have any markings. I'm not sure what to do now. If I report him to ebay, I'm going to have to prove its a knock off. First of all I need help to figure out if its a B&M or not. If any of you guys can send me some detailed pics of one that would be a great help. my email is kobra@bellsouth.net

The picture does look like an authentic B&M shifter.

If it is or isn't an B&M, a good safe thing to do is to get a few extra welds done around the ball area located at the bottom of the unit. They have been known to break off and leave you stranded on the side of the road. It should only cost a few bucks.
