I have a 95 Ford Contour which did not come with a radio. I really do not want to put a fancy radio in it so I bought a factory radio. When it is plugged in, there is sound, but it is very weak even with the volume turned to the max. I have 3 connections to the radio (antenna, a rectangle connection and a square connection). I have 2 additional places for connections on the back of the radio. Is there a connection that turns on the amp????

my guess is, whoever had the car before bypassed the factory amp. It is located behind/under the glove box. See if there's a bypass connected (if there's no wires going into the stock amp!), if so just remove it.

I found the amp behind the glove box and it is attached to the radio. there is a silver cable that plugs into the amp and then runs to the radio. there is another plug that goes to the radio plus some of the wires go up behind the dash. where do these wires go???? my heater panel light does not work. could these 2 things be related?? I have checked all of the fuses...

I would think those other wires go to the speakers.
