Nice choice. Looks like it needs a lot of TLC and some new sheet metal.
The sheet metal is actually pretty good... But it definitely needs a lot of TLC. This is what it currently looks like...
It's in the very slow process of being restored, frame up hopefully. 455 with Turbo 400, custom paint, etc etc etc...5 years, maybe 10... we'll see...

1987 Escort Wagon.
1.9L CFI, 5-speed MTX.
Yeah, it's got mods...
> Escort GT header
> Optimized TB
> Custom "ported" (holes drilled around the side) air cleaner housing w. snorkel removed
> 1 1/8" front sway bar from a Tempo (same bar as an Escort GT)
> Rear sway bar from an Escort GT, with some urethane bushings
> 1 coil cut from front springs (yeah, I know ) to level car and reduce camber
> Hella 550 driving lights, 100W bulbs
> Modified grille to accomodate driving lights
> Hella 550 fog lights w. clear Hella stone shields, 55W bulbs
> 236,xxx miles w. original clutch, tranny, engine (with the exception of a few alternators, waterpumps and timing belts.)
> I also have some American Racing 15x6 wheels w. 205/50-15 tires, but right now I'm sportin' the 165R13s, baby!
It's what I take when I do ham radio for SCCA rallies in the forest, go to raves in the forest, have to park downtown, or go anywhere else I don't wanna take my Contour. I usually tend to drive it more in the winter too, to avoid getting more rock chips on my 'Tour.

Here's my new "second" car (actually is the wife's primary car). I picked it up in Philadelphia at a decent price. It's a '97 Volvo 850 wagon with the non-turbo 5cyl. This car actually handles great and has more than enough power to haul the kids and groceries in (although I would have liked to have an 850 R wagon, they are a bit more than we could afford).

Nope, those are the tails that were on it when I bought it. I have a set of the Conquest tails that I haven't put on yet. Been too busy dealing with other problems (which I'm sure you can relate to since you owned one.)
Nothing quite like buying a car and having to spend $2k for an engine and $700 for injectors and TB seal kit within 6 months. Then finding out that the primary you were sent is defective and dumping fuel causing you to run insanely rich and fouling plugs while getting ~8mpg. I can't help but chuckle when people complain about how much they spend keeping their contour running. Buy one of these and you'll know the meaning maintenance costs.
Ok, got a little off course there, but wow that felt good :P

Well, I am new here but have been reading for some time, this is my first post. I bought my Contour in December, I'm 18 and it's my third car. I figure no biggie if I post the Contour here too. Mom's car: Dad's car: I bought the Contour because I'm in my first year of college, and the gas/insurance/RWD of my last car wasn't working: And my first car, my love and joy. How many of you like these cars, a sort of predecessor to our own? I loved it and had quite a bit invested into it, but it just wasn't reliable enough and I can only afford one car to drive:
