I have a 98 Contour LX FULLY Loaded 2.5L MTX 255000Km
This started a couple of weeks ago, when ever I accelerate the engine starts boging it feels like im running on 5 cyl.
until I hit 3000 then I get a huge boost and the car runs fine. I did an oil change and tune up 2 weeks ago. Changed spark plugs, PCV valve, air filter. Cleaned throttle body and ran injector flush. The car ran PERFECT after that for about 2 days the the bogging slowly came back, now its pretty bad. Some times when its bogging the engine Light starts flashing then after a minute stays on. I normally comes on often because I have a sticking IMRC.
CAN ANYONE HELP?

flashing CEL indicates a misfire..

misfires are caused from a lack of spark, fuel or compression.

Start with the easiest things to do. Check the codes.... even though your IMRC is failing, find out the codes for the other stuff, then let us know what it is..

I know you said you changed the plugs, but the questions I would have are:

Which plugs did you use? Should have been Autolite APP764 (double plats) or the OEM motorcraft equivalent..
Stay away from the Bosch +4's or any of that other crap out there.

Did you gap the plugs before you put them in? 0.054-0.056 is the standard gap on these plugs.

Once plugs are taken care of, then lets move on to wires.. When is the last time those were changed? You didn't mention changing them, and that many Km's on the wires would be hell on them.. (OEM motorcraft replacements are the most preferred, followed by Ford 9mm Racing wires)

now that wires are covered, are you sure you have spark?

Fuel injector's could be stuck, even after cleaner was used, though I wouldn't jump on that right away..

For now, lets start with that.. get those codes read, and be sure to bring back the NUMBER of the code, not the description they tell you.(Autozone does it for free.. other places do too)

I did uses the Bosch +4 , Have been using them for 4 years.
Plugs were what I was thinking, dont think they have ever been changed. When I took the old plugs out One of them was covered in oil and another was damp. Meaning burning oil. Since I live in ONTARIO I also have to do an emmission test by tommorow, what are my chances of passing? If I reset the computer will a code reader still be able to pick up any codes or does the light have to be on. I dont want to do the test with the light on. It usually takes 3 or 4 days for the light to come back on.

If you reset the computer you will have a code of 1000 meaning not all tests have been run..

If the emissions place TESTS the OBD port then you will fail for that code..

if it is a visual and sniffer test then you may be fine.. (just eliminate the CEL for the visual part..

It is just a visual and sniffer test But woudn't the sniffer catch the burning oil fumes?

How long does it take for the computer to run all the tests.

That's your problem right there! Worst plugs to use on a Duratec ever. Get some Autolite double plats in there. APP764.

Each test has a specific process that it must complete... for one it may only have to have the engine started once.

For others you may be required to drive, steady-state, at freeway speeds for 6-8 mins non-stop... and this must happen 3 or more times, .. or you might have to accelerate to above 40(arbitrary number here) then slow down to 0...do that three times.. (Etc, etc, etc)

So... to answer your question as honestly as possible: the more you drive it, and the more varied your driving actions are, the faster it will go.

But like it was said: if its only a sniffer check and a visual check of the CEL being OFF, then you will be fine, regardless if it isn't done.

Went to Crappy Tire And got the codes read
P301 Misfire
Is this mostly caused by bad plugs
or would it have anything to do with oil in a couple of cylinders
