Either can sound just as good depending on you musical tastes. I am striving for a perfect translation of the original recording and used a sealed box sized according to my Subwoofer's specs. A well tuned ported enclosure can sound very nice too though. However if you just pop a couple tubes in a box with out tunig it the the sub's T/S parameters it can sound like a hippo fart, as can a sealed enclosure built too small.

When u get a ported box. Do you have to cut the port tube. cuz its almost to the back of the box

You also need to know at what frequency you want to tune your box. Then find out how long and how wide/how many ports you need. You could take it to a car audio shop, or ask Dave. He's the man with all the answers

The subwoofer you buy will determine the box you use. Subwoofers are built for either ported or sealed boxes. You have to match the box to the sub.
As far as the sound goes, go to a store like Best Buy, and pick out a sub and your amp, and let them run it for you, off the sound board. If it sounds good to you, it will sound good in your car. The only difference is that your car has less AIR SPACE in it, and the carpeting and seats will absorb some audio, but the QUALITY of the audio should not change.

i should add to RoadRunner and say that for the most part, subs will sound louder in your car (depending on their orientation) than they do in the store. smaller space = more perceived loudness.

If you just want good sound quality and are nto going for huge Db's go with a sealed box. Most pros in IASCA use sealed boxes in SQ category. If you want good loud bass Go with ported box. If you ewant low frequency bass go with bandpass.
