Does anyone have the part number and brand/type (motorcraft double platinum or whatever) for the stock plugs?

yeah... the Autolite APP764 Double Platinum is the same exact plug..

Stick with that... period... don't go with the whole +4 crap..

NKG's are incredibly expensive and don't provide NEAR the improvement based on price... they are about the same

Yes, there is a difference between Plats and Double Plats. Be sure you get the Double Plats. It's worth the extra money.

for the rear bank.. don't remove ANYTHING.. you can change the rear bank with an extension, and merely raising the hood HIGHER than the prop rod supports it at. Lift the hood further than that and you get a straight shot at the rear cylinders.

Use anti-sieze on the new ones, and don't do it while the block is warm.. (warm+aluminum=soft...)

Ray, how do you hold the hood up higher than the prop rod?
More specifically, what do you use? broom handle? beer in hand clueless neighbor? I got both of these...

I actually opted for the "loves to be helpful wife" but at over 1 trillion dollars each (total is cumulative in maintenance, and upkeep for the life of the product) I would just go with the latter of your choices... at one beer per plug that is still only a 6-pack...

Though at one beer per plug the height may be lower and lower after each beer, so start with the back three..

FWIW, you can look the Motorcraft plug part number at www.motorcraft.com

The new fine-wire plugs, if used, eliminate the necessity of using double-platinums.
