A friend of mine that owns an Acura TSX is running H & R lowering springs, and just installed a set of KYB shocks yesterday. We all noticed that his car was higher than before the install, and knew it was not a "settling in" situation, because it was more of an inch in difference that the setup lifted his car.
After seeing this happen, I took it upon myself to call the suspension experts at Ground Control and ask them what this was all about. I spoke to one of the enginneers over there named Mark, and he told me that some shock manufacturers will fluctuate spring perch height between stock and up to an inch higher than stock!!!
Primarily KYB, but also other non-oem stut manufacturers are known to do this according to Mark. What he recommended me to do, is to measure my stock shock from spring perch to top-end of valve body, and to make sure that no matter which shock I buy, it meets the same measurement. I pass this information on to all you potential shock/strut buyers out there, so that you can avoid a serious dissapointment.
I am definitely measuring my Koni's when I get em...
