transmission not working????

i got a 93 taurus ( i know this is for contour, but someone might have had the same problem as its a ford with electric transmission)... fluid is correct level.. on expressway and take down ramp and stop behind other cars.... cars move so i try to pull up and NO GO....its like its in neutral... i then pull it out of drive and back to neutral and then to drive...nothing... so i put in in revers and then back to drive and it catches and drives on like there is no problem... next time i stop it does the same..... as long as you drive it works.. but after a stop it has to be put in reverse to get it to catch..... any suggestionsZ????
