I think I might have the record for being stuck in traffic. Last night on the way home from work, there was an accident several miles ahead on Interstate 80 and all traffic came to a stand-still. It started at 6:00 PM and traffic didnt move until 8:30! Has anyone ever been stuck in traffic longer that 2 1/2 hours? Do I have some sort of record here?

Time stuck in Traffic Jam
Less than 30 minutes
31 to 60 minutes
1 hour to 2 hours
2 to three hours
More than three hours

That's daily traffic in Houston, and I hear LA is even worse.

Northern Kentucky on i-75 going into Cincinnatti when they were doing construction on the bridge. Sat for about 4hrs on the way home from our vacation in Florida. As if coming home from vacation doesn't suck enough already.

IIRC, LA is the worst, and I know DC isn't too far behind.. My 17 mile commute to work takes me usually 45 minutes in the morning (has taken up to 90 minutes), and usually on the way home is 1hr-1.5hrs...

I got stuck on 270 in Ohio last year (when that crazy sniper guy was out). We were at a standstill for 7 hours. Luckly, we had all kinds of food and stuff, so we had a picnic on the side of the road for lunch, dinner, and evening snack. It was the first reported casualty with that sniper guy, traffic had stopped and it was absolutly locked. There were no exists for like 6 miles, and everyhting was blocked..... ewwwww, I hate ohio. No offense to you ohio guys.

D.C. over the summer. I think it was I-280 or something like that. I had an internship at the NIH and I drove from Detroit...arghh man, talk about trafficzilla. I will never complain about MI traffic again. Just to put things into perspective, I had a 10-15 mile commute from College Park, MD to Bethesda, MD and it took me about 1.5-2hrs one way. After a few times of that experience I just took the Metro. I can't imagine traffic there w/o the Metro.

Waiting in traffic for 3 hours from Medford, MA to the end of the tunnell on 93s in Boston... roughly 5 miles away, day before Thanksgiving, 1999.

I lucked out with my daily commute in Northern Virginia because it's all major surface roads and there are plenty of jump-off points to scoot around tieups. I'm pretty sure, though, that I've been in "get out and walk around" traffic jams in my life.
