I recently had my clutch replaced following the failue of the slave cylinder. Had to take it back to the shop a couple of times with loose suspension stuff. The leak was there then but they claimed that they had over-filled the tranny and that was causing the leak. However, it is still doing it a week later. Could they have damaged the shaft seal during the repair process? If that's the case, would the leaking fluid get on the friction plate? The clutch feels a little grabby/shuddery at times.
I hope to be armed with information when I take it back.
Thanks,
LLL

Nothing? Nobody?
OK. If its not a shaft seal leaking what else could it be?
C'mon y'all.

Damaging a shaft seal on a clutch change is not something that normally happens. Why did they have to fill it, was it already leaking? I have done many clutches, none on this car just so you know.

Probably because they drained the tranny before undoing the bellhousing bolts to remove that half from the car, so they could change the clutch out?

Where's it leaking from?

There are axle seals that can leak, those would be relatively easy to fix. There should also have been an o-ring or rtv put on the back of the throw out bearing - if that was missing I'd guess youd get some "splash" leak into the bellhousing area.

Also oil coming from rear main seal will leak at the tranny to engine mating point.

Yeah, it could be a driveaxle seal. I imagine those could be easily damaged in removal and installation. Or it could even be the gear selector shaft seal. I haven't been able to look at it closely - just know that it's tranny fluid dripping off the bottom of the mtx. And, of course, it could be just a coincidence.
Nah.
