hi guys, i was just wondering what oil coolers u guys were running. Part nubers would be help full . i was thinking if getting the B&M trans and engien coolers but i dont understand how to install them.

The trans cooler is simple, what i dont get is the engine cooler. I can c how some kits come with the screww on adaptors for the oil filter but how do we 2.0 zetec guys get the oil to run through them, does the screw ons fit our engine? Sorry for the newby question but i just want to make sure i buy everything first and dont have to wait for a part i missed when installing it.

Did a quick search of the Focus Forums and found this:

http://www.focaljet.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2416443476&page=&fpart=all&vc=1

It's a long read, but a lot of good info.

One thing though, while our engines and the Focus have the same oil filter, filter location, and oil pickup points, the plumbing for the hoses and heat exchanger probably won't be the same, but shouldn't be too hard to fab up.

EDIT: An oil cooler isn't really needed unless you plan on doing a lot of back to back racing, i.e. all day drags or road course stuff.

I believe I am the only Contour running an oil cooler.
I use a B&M oil cooler meant for the Integra.
Its a stack plate design.
Its small and mounts easily in front of the radaitor in he front bumber opening.
If you use an oil cooler, you need a t-stat (recomend one built into the sandwich adapter).
Make sure that which ever oil cooler you choose has atleast 1/2" ID fittings/hoses, some use 3/8" and that is to small.
There is plenty of room for the stock oil filter, so thats not a concern.
The hard part is routing the oil lines safely and without too many bends.
I am in the process of designing an oil cooler that won't require airflow, and can be mounted next to the filter.

As stated, the oil cooler isn't really needed for a daily driver as the effects of cooler oil won't be seen.
But cooler oil is always beter.

man if i knew that i would have never have thought of it. thanks guys almost spent my time and money on something i truly didnt need. I truly thought by installing an engine oil cooler the temp guage would read a lil cooler. oh wells, guess i'll just install the trans oil cooler then. Thanks a lot guys, once again your information and input has proved to save me time and money .

If you just want to cool the engine a bit, try a colder thermostat. I'm running a 170, stock is 190.

Ditto. I'm also running a 170. After I did a thorough flush and fill, it was AMAZING how much better my cooling system worked.
