Finally had a day warm enough to get at the ebrake cables.
I replaced the rear calipers before the weather got cold and found that both cables were seized up. I left the caliper ends of the cable tywrapped up out of the way waiting for a reasonably warm day.

The cable remove/replace procedure has been documented in the past, but here are some tips that may help:

With the caliper ends of the cables disconnected, I put the front end of the car up on ramps and used a jack/jackstands on the rear. This method got the car high enough to work on.

I sprayed the tinnerman nuts that hold the heatshield up with PB Blaster before I tried to remove them. I found that a 15/16 socket helps a lot in getting them off without damage.

In order to gain access for cable replacement you have to lower the rear portion of the exhaust system. I found that gallon paint cans were the perfect height to support the exhaust once I popped the pipes off of the rubber hangers.

A 13mm box wrench is the perfect size to compress the spring clips when removing the old cables. Just slide the box end over the cable and rock back and forth while pulling out the cable ΓΆβ?¬β?? works great.

To ease the installation of the new cables, spray the clips and boots with silicone lube.

After both new cables were installed, the exhaust rehung, and the heatshield reinstalled, I left the caliper ends of the cables hanging loose.

I took the car off the jackstands, ramps, then jacked up each side of the rear and connected the cables to the calipers and lastly fastened the retaining strap.

The job took me over 4 hours (!) to complete. Not too bad to do, but definitely wait for mild weather.

My right rear is disconnected as we speak. It seizes up on cold mornings. Spring I'll reconnect.

4 hours? I bet if you did it again on another Tour you could halve that!
