Does anyone know how big the factory amp is? By that I mean physical dimensions. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to replace the factory amp with a better quality aftermarket amp and mount it in the same spot. I'm planning to upgrade the HU and speakers and amp and I want everything to be as well integrated into the interior as the factory setup. Thanks.

IT'S RIGHT BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. APPEARS TO BE 12 INCHES WIDE BY 10 HIGH, AND 2 INCHES DEEP.
I DON'T THINK THEY MAKE A 4 CHANNEL AMP THAT WILL FIT THERE

I never looked at mine, but if those are the dimensions, you should be able to find something that will fit. Let me get back with you.

The size of my amps is

Width: 13 1/8"
Height: 2 1/16"
Depth: 12 11/16"

and its not exactly a small amp, so i bet you can find some to fit. hmm, that gets me thinking....

who can give me a short description of the process to go through to remove the factory amp? i was about to start making a false floor for my trunk, but maybe there are better spots to look..

if i could put my amp for my door speakers where the factory amp goes that would be VERY nice

That's exactly what I was thinking sound......I knew it was behind the glove box but I had no idea it was so big......there should definitely be something that can fit in its place that is better than the factory amp. I'm not looking for a showstopper system.....just something that's a big improvement over the stock system. I don't want to get into the whole thing where adding capacitors and optima batteries are necessary you know??

IMHO there are no amps that will fit in the factory location. I used the factory amp loaciton to mount my power distribuion. It was barely big enough for that. I will take pictures and post them later.

I'll be using the factory amp's location as a future mounting spot for my XM tuner module. It'd also be a great place for a remotely controlled eq/dsp module.

There are some amps out there that are small enough to fit. I'd take a look at the Infinity and Blaupunkt digital amps.

Blaupunkt PA4100 - 100x4 and 10-15/32"W x 2-5/8"H x 9-7/8"D
