My buddy has a MOMO steering wheel off of a Subaru, and I'm wondering if it would fit on our cars. So here are some questions:

1. How large is our steering wheel hub adapter? This MOMO one hooks up to a 17mm one. So I guess I need a 17mm bolt to get this wheel on.

2. What pin connectors do our airbags hook up to? I have no idea what we have, but I guess worst case I could splice 'em together.

3. Will this whig out the air bag system? I know OBD2 checks for it, and this wheel has an air bag, but. . . .

wowwie.... I wouldn't touch doing that. 99% chances are you'll pop it doing it. My dad works for ford desiging airbags and says you CAN NOT splice wires, they solely rely on the connectors, and will indefiently malfunction if "spliced" togheter. If your looking to splice the airbag in... I would just not use it at all. WAAAYYY too risky to do that, you could be driving, a wire come undone, and pop. Or... it doesn't properly go off in the event of an accident.

Those pictures imply that the suby steering wheel won't fit, as the suby uses splines on the steering shaft. The contour has a hexagon shape on the steering shaft where the steering wheel sits.

Yeah I wouldn't go there. Plus what about your cruise control?

If I was to replace the wheel (which I wouldn't - I value my life) I'd go for a bagless Momo or Sparco wheel.

Yes... and beisdes, why put a performance stering wheel WITH the bag, isn't that pretty muc defeating the purpose of a light weight "removable" wheel?

"My dad works for ford desiging airbags and says you CAN NOT splice wires, they solely rely on the connectors, and will indefiently malfunction if "spliced" together." That doesn't make any sense. What is so special about the connectors? That sounds like the classic argument of it, "wasn't designed for that". If that idea was always followed less risks would be taken and less progress would be made, much less. Couldn't you just use the factory ford connector after the clock spring? That is assuming that the airbags activate the same way with the same voltage input ect.
