I have a 98 SVT Contour. It has 140,000 miles. This carstill looks as if it pulled out of the showroom floor. I have logged the gas mileage every single fill up. Yes thats correct every single fill up for 140,000 miles. The car has only seen 2 winters, and has been garaged every night. Its only seen 2 winters because after the first two years of ownership I have not driven it during the winter. Just drop insurance, and park it. I have every single reciept for any service done to the car. All service has been done at SVT authorized Ford dealer only. I have used mobil one since 5,000 miles. My question is, next fall I am considering selling the car. What price should I ask. The car is 100 percent stock, and is in perfect condition. Should I ask a premium price? Give me your thoughts. I have babied this car since day one. Again. If you can picture a SVT that has just pulled off of the dealership lot, that is what mine looks like, with only differerence being mine haveing 140,000 miles. Please give me your thoughts. If you want to sell it, don't ask too high a price! Regardless of its condition, 140K miles is a lot and no one is going to care that it looks showroom fresh. I have no idea what price you should ask almost a year from now except to say that I'd check the prices of other 98's and ask accordingly. If you get no bites you'll have to lower your asking price until someone does bite. Simple economics. Karl

I would say $3500 - $4500 miles is what kills the price

People WILL take into account that your car looks showroom new and that you have all maintenance records. That increases the value of the car to any serious buyer.
On the minus side, you have put 20k per year on the car, an above average amount. A serious buyer will take that into account. At 140k, the next owner will probably have to pay for some expensive repairs during his time of ownership.
I'd say price it at the going price for SVTs in your region, and be prepared to haggle.

20,000 miles annually suggests highway miles. is that your usual travel? that might be a fair explanation for some people. personally, i would rather buy a car with 80,000 on it all highway than a car with 50,000 in the city. my mother put 265,000 miles on a chevy blazer (130 mile daily commute) so i have seen the benefits of highway driving. the blazer never had any major mechanical problems. largest repair was fuel pump. dealer also gave us $3,000 trade in for it. make sure the buyer understands how your car was maintained, driven, and pampered... if it was

Just bought a CSVT, from what I saw while shopping you can expect to get $2,500-3,000. High miles is the pox on these cars.
