Overlays or actual Indiglo gauges?
You mean the instrument cluster right, not the "dash" that's going a little far

NO battery anything...
Remove the cluster, they're are 5 screws that hold the cluster itself into the dash. Then there are two plugs on the back of the cluster you'll need a flathead to push in and remove. Very easy.
5 screws. top left, top right, bottom left, bottom middle and bottom right
Now the cluster has a clear plastic cover you'll need to pop in the tabs and then it pulls off. A little tricky but you can do it.
See the tab indentions? Top left, top middle, top right, bottom left (a little in) and bottom right (a little in)
With cover off, you DON'T have to remove the needles. The overlays should pop over the needles. My OVERLAYS (which may be different) just slid over the front of the needles, then popped over the extended back part.
I used gorilla glue to hold mine down, others have used double sided tape. Your choice, the glue can be tricky, use it sparingly. Don't interfere with the movement of the needles or it'll stop them from moving. It doesn't take much pressure at all to stop a needle.
Now, on my overlays, once they were on, they covered where the tabs were for the clear plastic cover. I just cut the tabs to get it to close, couldn't see another way. You may find a better one.
Remember, if you cut the tabs on the clear plastic cover it won't ever close fully again, BUT remember those 5 screws when you first took it out will hold it firmly closed enough once you put it back together. I've never had a problem with that part.
Now you'll want to ground the overlays against your steering column (find a bolt and put it under there) but to power them many people have their own methods. I used the dimmer switch. I literally put a female plug on the end of the power wire, and jammed it into the back dimmer plug (the yellow plug) in the middle wire position, that's the wire that gets power when the lights go on.
What a mess of wires! But see the yellow plug on the left there? That's the dimmer switch plug. I put the overlay power wire in the back of that plug, middle position. Never had a problem since. That way I didn't splice into anything. I'm just squeezing a plug back there.
Good luck!
