All done! As promised here are the pics. Yes, I was lazy and just had photoshop make the page for me, and didn't bother to title them all. :p wink

Link to da pics!

Overall, the install went very well. Slow, but then, I'm a perfectionist. But, what's time to a hog? laugh When I started cutting the hole in the rear deck, it was taking a while. So I figured how much could it cost for a body shop to cut one whole? I mean, all the stuff's out of their way, maybe $10 at the most? Wrong! $50! I decided to pick up my dremel and keep going. smile

I carpeted everything this time. Some of you may remember the last pic of my amp. Carpet looks a lot better than wood. I also moved the amp over, to make it look more balanced.

I was going to add padding between the inside carpet and the deck, but decided to ty it without it. No rattles! I did remove as much of the insulation as I could where the sub is.

It sounds great! Just the amount of bass I was looking for. I also used the highpass on the amp to block the bass to the front speakers, so I gained some clarity there too.

And some of the better things: no loss of trunk floor space and a totally stock look. Call it Sleeper Sound. wink

Looks great! Nice job. My install ended up taking quite a bit of time too. But, it was worth it.

Man thats a really nice job! I like how you hung the amp to the right, and what is the cylinder made from, heavy cardboard? Me really likes eek , I've always thought of putting 2 back there, pretty much supported by the trunk floor though, not hanging & with the dash cut w/nice grills in the back ~ does the dash rattle at all being "in the line of fire"? awsome job mang well worth time IMO

and oh yah , and much as it serves purpose this had to suck! wink

Thanks guys! The cylinder is just cardboard, but is actually a suggested way to build a sub box, as in the Car Audio Cookbook. It sure did make it easier to do too. The tube is actually what is used for making concrete columns or footers, so I bought it at Lowe's.

And surprisingly enough, the dash doesn't rattle! I was sure it would, so I was pleasently surprised that it didn't. I even had the foam insulation ready to go in there, but didn't need it! smile

How did you get away from so little airspace in the enclosure? I was going to do the exact same thing, but when I did the calculations, the tube would have gone all the way to the trunk floor!

Or did you even worry about airspace?

Acutally, I did do calculations. And the first time I did them, the tube was like 1.5 meters tall! eek

Luckily, I found I had a units error. I forget exactly, but think I was converting the liters (what the program I used puts the final units in) to cubic meters, not cubic feet. Besides, Alpine suggests a box size of 0.3 to 0.6 cubic feet. I think mine came out to be about 0.5. smile

But really, I doubt the box size makes that much difference. It sure helped though . . . worlds better than before!

Looks real goo!.
How did you make the tube for the speaker? Do they sell those? Second, how did you connect the supports into the tube if it's a heavy cardboard. Doesn't that not have enough "umph"?
It does look very professionally done.
Does anyone wonder why their is a small (maybe 5 or 6 inch) circular hole already cut in the metal of the deck on the right side? Weird, but that's where my woofer is now.
