Um .. actually someone has taken a tally for blown engines due to oil starvation, and IIRC attempted to gather a following toward a potential lawsuit. I think it's in the old forums though and I'm too lazy to look it up for you.

Not to hijack this thread, but just another take on "bean counters" running a company. I work at Fuddruckers, a hamburger restaurant, for those of you that don't know. Years before I woked there (I work at a corporate store, there are franchises that still do it all the old way), the burgers used to be made from meat cut and ground from sides of beef. There was a gradual change away from that over the many years. We no longer grind the meat at all, it comes pre-ground, we just toss the meat into the patty machines to make burgers. The fresh ground flavor is gone. Buns that were made from scratch are now made with a pre-mixed "Fuddruckers" bun mix. The fresh made bread flavor is gone. Cookies come frozen, pies come frozen, our lettuce comes pre-packaged and ready to go. It's all about the "bean counters" in control of it all, it's all about profit, less labor, less cost (for the company) but do prices for the guests come down? No! Every change that comes about at Fuddruckers is a notch down from the quality that used to be the difference between us and the other place down the road.

We have a new ad campaign starting next week that, from what I have heard, is supposed to emphasize the fun time you can have at Fuddruckers with associates whooping it up and shouting. The "bean counters" are winning the battle at Fuddruckers and alot of other businesses at the expense of quality.

I SWEAR nobody ever reads the main site here.

http://www.contour.org/mods/mods.php?s=mods&c=4

There are *two* listed fixes for this problem there ...

FWIW, the problem occurs primarily when driving hard to the right at high RPMs (~5000 IIRC is when the engine gets starved), due to the shape of the oil pan. It is not prone to this problem during hard left turns.

accusump, and updated oil pan are a good place to start...or just put a 3L in there they have the proper drain holes in the heads=no oil starvation,or not as much anyways?

Thanks for responding. I did try to take ford to court once. I had to find out who their Business Agent is in the state and then I took them to small claims court. The issue was over my drivers seat that rocked back and forth. Unfortunately the Ford Representative was a female. The judge was a female and I think they had some sort of ya-ya sisterhood going on... I presented printouts from this website from others who had the same problem, but the judge said, "Did Ford issue any recalls on this problem" and the Ford gal said no. So the judge said, "Well then, obviously there isnt a problem".

Hows that for logical thinking?

I ended up taking the car to another dealer (the 3rd dealer I went to) out of town. They told me they almost never see SVT contours and they fixed it under warranty.

Maybe I should try this again with regards to the engine?

Money talks.......I just bought a nice new Hyundai Sonata. I did not spend my money on a FORD. I won't buy a Ford....

Bye Ford!

"FWIW, the problem occurs primarily when driving hard to the right at high RPMs (~5000 IIRC is when the engine gets starved), due to the shape of the oil pan"

People who raced the cars on a track have had the problem and also "driving hard" is a general term. I'd say if you drive the car "hard", then expect issues to come up. "Hard driving" = abuse.

If someone rolls a Tour at a track and totals the car, is it Ford's fault?

Also, try driving that S'nota at a track and see if it would hold up. And see if "Americas Best Warranty" would cover "hard driving".
