Hey guys, i still have not gotten rid of that engine noise from my front components. I made a noise sniffer to figure out if it was the amp or headunit/rca's, and the sniffer said headunit rca/s. I replaced my cheapo rca cables today with 2 meter Dream Series Stinger RCA cables. NOise is still there. I also grounded my headunit to that little metal piece to the right of the headunit(underneathe the dash). I am running a kenwood excelon headunit. What the heck should I do???? I've done just about Everything I can now, any suggestions??--it has to be coming in through the headunit somehow/where??????? confused

try a buddies spare HU frown It is a possibility that you HU has gone south. hook up a home cd player or portable with rca's and listen for the noise. did this one and it worked for me ( teh home unit hookup that is) Also, what about one of the other wires from the HU, other rca's, regular speaker wires , cell phone mute ect touching ground? how about the connection of the rca's to your HU. I have mine taped up to wliminate the possibility of contact with ground. I'd try this forst now that you know the noise is upstream of you amplifiers.

Later,

I had the same problem. I think it was my AMP ground which gave me the "whine" I have the Kenwood Excelon z828.........either ground your headunit to the same ground as your amps, or run the cables on another side of the car..

Hmmmmmmmm.........
