hey guys, may be an odd request here, but as i dont have a tach, it may be my only option, and im just kind of curious.
i was wondering if anyone could post or direct me to an audio/video clip that has a stock 96 zetec contour at about 4000 rpms? anything really below redline, as long as its in the higher range and i know what it is. im just trying to get a feel for what it sounds like up in that range.
any help would be great.

thanks for that clip, it gives me a rough idea. the quality kind of makes it hard to hear what it really sounds like, but it helps, thanks!

I feel sorry for your engine. Hitting high rpms are fine for the engine (once warmed up). It has a redline for a reason. In fact, I believe I've heard if you never occasionnally take your car to/close to redline, it hurts the engine's performance/longevity.
Esty, just accelerate till you hit redline, then you know where redline is and can guesstimate from there downwards. Or get a cluster w/ tach from a junkyard= $25.
I'm a poor college student too.

During acceleration: 1-2:14mph 2-3:25 3-4:33 4-5:48 Cruising: 1-2:12 2-3:20 3-4:29 4-5:40
You can shift higher when accelerating, I have an auto so I'm not sure the exact speeds, that's from the ford manual. You can of course also shift a bit sooner and get better gas mileage.

Well, you live in Brooklyn; when do you have a chance to wind it out?
