I have several W-2's to file as well as a 1099-MISC. What's the easiest way to do this? And, can I file electronically using something like TurboTax? I've tried reading the IRS's website, but it's like trying to read a foreign language to me. Does anybody have experience with this?

I use TURBO TAX through my credit union, and I've never had a problem with it.

You can do as many W-2's as you want I believe. And the program will practically hold your hand through the whole process, guiding you along.

turbotax is great and if you access it via the irs.gov website you can file your fed return free
no limits to W2's and often times you can import the W2 data electronically instead of copying all of it off the form. Lastly, there is no charge for turbo tax until you actually file so you can try it yourself and if you get stuck then you can take it somewhere.

I've used Turbo Tax the last 2 years, but I've never had to file a 1099-misc until now. I just realized I got a 1099-G to file as well. Any self-employed/contractors out there that know what to do?

You will need to use turbo tax premium edition which will ask you all the questions for being self employed. I dont think premium edition lets you do the free file, but its only 29.99. Last year it was 49.99. I am a personal trainer/ DJ so I have to file taxes as a business owner as well. Turbo tax makes it super easy. They walk you through every step. I've been using it for about 5 years now. The first year it took me a few hours to get it all done because I would double and triple check. Once you have used it once, it will import all your data from the previous year
