Anyone using this? I'm going to by signing up for high speed wireless internet (256K), and I'd sure like to offset the cost some ($63/ month with Verizon to have a phone with call ID/Waiting, vs $24 month for all local and long distance). Just wondering about good/bad experiences.

It's all good as long as you have the throughput. And hopefully, you won't have any problems with your broadband. The cable here goes out occasionally and obviously, without that you'd have no phone. But i'll assume you have a cell phone anyway. Just get yourself a good cordless phone that lets you add bases/handsets because your existing phone jacks are useless now.

Yeah, I already have a Uniden that lets me do that, have the extra base/handset in our bedroom. I need to rewire my house anyway, because the prior owner had at least 2 different phone lines. So I figured I'd get down in the crawl space and wire it so the Vonage signal goes to all the outlets.

The broadband signal is going to be wireless, based on 802.11b. The POP range is 8 - 10 miles, but I am less than 1/4 mile from the site, so signal problems should not be an issue. Wife and I both have cell phones that work in the house (didn't at our old place), so that is not an issue either. Have you used them, TGO?

no, I havent. But i haven't heard anything bad from people that do. I was contemplating moving to that for my office but just don't trust it as much as a hard line yet.
