Is that something that anyone is familiar with? i just didn't have a clue what the guy was talking about so i wanted to see if you guys know about this.

your friend had no idea what he was talking about and that is why you are confused. torque is the force necessary to rotate an object. what you are describing is lugging the engine. i am sure there is a technical or atleast a more correct word for it but i do not know what it is.

WOuldnt you downshift if you wanted to go faster? I could imagine a clutck kick so it can catch faster but thats weird. I would imagine just downshifting to satisfy the speed you want.

Anyone remember the 1964 Beach Boys tune "Shut Down"?

Opening line "Torque it up, Torque it up, Buddy now I'm gonna shut you down".

Maybe it came from something as old as that.

I gota confess though, the actual lyrics are "Tach it up, Tack it up".

So does anyone know what the phrase from that song "two cool shorts" means?

This is a strange thread, I've read all two pages and I don't know anymore than when I started
"Torquing an engine" is sort of a vauge, and I've never heard of any such thing.

The next sentence in the song may help, "a stingray and a 413".

Anyone else know?

A short is another term for "hot rod".

This song is about a drag race between a fuel injected Corvette Stingray and a Mopar with a 413.

Basically it says that two hot rods were lined up ready for a drag race and then describes the race. The Corvette won.
