Alright for the past couple months my '98 CSVT has been doin this thing where i'll be comming up to stop so i'll have the clutch in all the way and it'll idle way down 2 where it's gonna die but it hasn't yet. It does it when it's warmed up sometimes too. I figured it was just our cold wisconsin weather but we've been havin some +40 days lately and it's still been doin it. Tonight when i came home i was goin down my street w/ the clutch in and then after a couple seconds it went way down to like 2 or 300 rpm's and was about to die but it didn't. Please tell me wat is wrong..thx

at high rpms?

that would be why it is called an I-a-c.. not a "High-RPM-a-c"

IDLE air control valve...

faulty or sticking..

I have a very simalar problem, where mine idles up, then down, then back up, then down again...but never stalls out just catches itself enough to stay running. Also with mine it often gets stuck at a faster rpm sometimes 1500 or even as high as 3000 rpm when I come to a stop light. I do sometimes get a slight moosing from the air intake box, however I have done the moose fix. I have heard so many dif storys of the IAC. Some people have said they replaced it with the same symptoms, some have had better results replacing the IAT, some say its intake vacume leaks. Can anyone pinpoint what causes the problem or in most cases is it the IAC? If so, is there a way to confirm the IAC as faulty or sticking? Whats the real deal...or is it process of elimination when it comes to idling issues. I hate buying stuff, especially electrical components only to find out that it never needed to be replaced and I can't return it. Not hijacking this thread...but based on what I described above, whats your opinion on what needs to be fixed? Thanks

We took the IAC off last night and checked it, and also cleaned it. It clicked but wasn't moving at all. Then we put it back on the car and used a stethascope to listen 2 hear it click open and it wasn't doing ne thing. I have a question.. Is there a difference on the SVT IAC than the regular 2.5? i'm pretty sure there is no difference. Hopefully this is wat is wrong. It died on me twice 2day while the clutch was pushed in. thx..
