Pretty broad statement. A modded dsm I know here uses an AFC. Back in albany, almost all the fast hondas used it. I'm not saying a custom program isn't the right way, but just saying that's a broad statement.

Yes I know a AFC "can work, and has worked". But read around, and you'll see what I mean.
Some car's (DSM's) can get away with it more than others, a sensitive knock sensor helps, and since there allready boosted, chances are the injector size change is less drastic, there for the ignition advance is less drastic.
Read up on HondaTech and homemadeturbo.com, they all exsplain why AFC's are so bad.

I also know a DSMer with a AFC, but he also has a data logger, he's loosing a lot of power because of the ECM freaking out from the knock, caused by the high ignition timing from the AFC hack.

Again, just saying it was a broad statement. That was it.

What a pile of garbage!

Back when I had my 97 GSX, the S-AFC was the way to go and MANY people acheived excellent results, including roadRaceEngineering.com and ExtremeMotorsports.com

stop talking out yer ass on stuff you heard from you aunt Millie's sister-in-law's poodle!

The S-AFC does NOTHING to the timing, it has ZERO controll over it. The old ITC does, and yes if you don't know what you're doing you can blow a motor with it.

The only way you'll screw up an engine with a S-AFC is if you're a moron and lean it out too much but not knowing how to tune it properly.

Damn newnies.......

ON a ZETEC engine an AFC ADDS timing. In order to run 200+whp 42lb injectors are recommended, that halfs your MAF load values and doubles your timing values in the ecu. When I installed 42lb injectors and a MAF calibrated to those injectors I had 30* spark advance across the board. I couldn't go over 30mph without getting deto. If you only want to add 24lb injectors 30lb, then an AFC might work, but if it doesn't you're engine is done. There is a Cougar Zetec guy with a Greddy E-Manage running 36lb injectors right now but the Greddy has features a regular AFC doesn't, but it's also more expensive and can't control our Fords ECU timing. The base SCT package is as cheap as an Emanage and CAN control our timing also.
