Quick question about a taurus, has anybody had a problem with the spedometer cutting out and transmission not shifting every once in awhile? Also have a powersteering failure. I think the problems are related. Restarting the car fixes the power steering, but then the transmission wouldnt shift out of first gear (automatic).

letting the car sit for twenty minutes fixed the problems, but they come back later. Cell light has come on and given me a code PO500 which means - �§omputer cannot detirmine vehicle speed.' I suspect the sensor, but has anyone have any ideas of what else it might be before I get into fixing it?

I can't think of any local members that have Taurus's. May be better to check a online forum for them. IIRC though there is a different Tranny for the Duratec Taurus. Therefore basically no similarity to compare to.

I had a '92 taurus for about 6 months and i had tranny problems the second week i had it ( it's a major flaw on taurus's) the place i would suggest is here it's like the CEG for tuarus owners
