I work Mall Security at a mall in Danvers, Massachusetts. On Feb. 2nd I came into th security office at 4 pm, and there were no other officers around, which is unusual. So I radioded in to find out what was going on. Here is what my director told me :
Around 3:00 pm EST an armored car was picking up a deposit at a major store in my mall. When the guard was returning to his truck he was held up by two men at gunpoint who struggled with the him then took the money bag containing thousands of dollars and fled the scene. Within minutes police arrived on scene and soon after the F.B.I showed up and declared an official govt. crime scene.
The rest of the day was chaotic because of the 5+ helicopters circling overhead all day, the F.B.I questioning everyone and much more.
Needless to say it was the most action I have had in a long time. to my knowledge the criminals have not been caught yet. i have yet to find any news articles online about the theft, and I'm not sure why.

I grew up in Ipswich, it used to be "cool" to go hang out at the arcade at liberty tree (yeah, there wasn't much to do in ipswich!) before going to the movies.
I 'spose that's better than the kids who just went and drank at "The Pit" off Topsfield Road (not to say I was NEVER there )

Mall rat? nah, we hardly went into the mall. We just wanted the video games. Back in the early eighties (I graduated from Ipswich High in '88) if a kid wanted to play good video games he went to the arcade. The atari's of the time just couldn't compete!
