Hey everyone. Got a problem. For the past week my OD light has been flashing in first and second gear. Was told it was the TSS. Now tonight my Check Engine light came on. Went right away to Auto Zone to hook it up to the OBD2. Guy there said my port was dead. Said he's seen it happen in GM's but never in a Ford. Any ideas?

Yeah there is a fuse that supplies power to the port, replace the fuse. Sorry but I don't know which one it is.

The port on the OBD II was dead.  Seems that the moron who hooked it up used an OBD II that was marked "do not use, port is dead". Guess he couldn't read.  Code has been read, problem solved.

K, problem hasn't been solved, she's got another CEL.
OBD II says code PO443,"EVAP canister purge control selenoid or valve faulty".
Did a search but found nothing to help me with this one.
AutoZone says there is no part listed to correct this problem. (?)
Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Possible causes:
-- Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.
-- EVAP CANISTER PURGE or VPWR circuit open
If the code also shows with KOEO/KOER tests then:
Possible causes:
-- VPWR circuit open.
-- EVAP CANISTER PURGE open.
-- EVAP CANISTER PURGE shorted to PWR GND or SIG RTN.
-- Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.
-- Damaged PCM.
All the tests involved are really best done with obd2 software, you will also need a volt meter and ohm meter. I guess without these things you can just inspect the wires, if they're OK, then replace the canister purge valve.
The evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915):
is in-line with the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) (9D653). controls the flow of fuel vapors out of the evaporative emissions canister to the engine. is normally closed.
The evaporative emission canister purge valve operates as follows:
When the engine is shut off, vapors from the fuel tank (9002) flow into the evaporative emissions canister. After the engine is started, the evaporative emission canister purge valve is activated and opens, purging the fuel vapors from the evaporative emissions canister and fuel tank into the engine. With the evaporative emission canister purge valve open, vapors from the fuel tank are drawn directly into the engine.
Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915). 2. Disconnect evaporative emission hose and fuel return and brake tube (9L291). Remove evaporative emission canister purge valve. 3. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
Part number- 9C915
I'm not sure exactly where it is. I think it's probably bolted to the firewall somewhere.

Thank you so much. Sorry for the delayed response, computer decided to crap out on me. Overall nothing's working quite right for me right now.  So far FiRe has called his grandfather whose friend works at a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership to see if he's able to fix it. Hopefully he will, or else is a drive to the NY state line and a call to AAA to say "Umm, yea, I was driving and the lights on the dash just came on. Can ya tow me to PA?" Ugh.
