I'm looking at buying 2-12.5 Pro Boston Acoustic Subs

Now the hard part, I need to find an amp, My freinds brought up names such as Legacy, Crunch, and Pyle (I know off brand)

I would like a amp at a resonable price (won't break pocket book)but reliable with good sound

I'm planning on running approx. 500 watts RMS to each sub

Get a Soundtream Reference1000 if you can find it.
Should run about $400-$500.
1000Wx1 at 2 Ohms in "High Current" mode.
Pure and clean power.
It's a bit older, but late 90's Soundstream equipment is still some of the best stuff out there.

The reference series had some issues with power supplies. When they worked they were among the best around, though.

Or a Soundstream Class A 10.2 Amp. That is what replaced the Reference 1000, if I am correct.

I heard rumors of a few bad ones here and there, but never actually saw one.
Never had a problem with mine, and neither did any of my friends.
I believe the Class A 10.2 Amp isn't quite as powerful, but has a better S/N ratio.
But I could be mistaken.

i use a Legacy amp in my bronco and it works fine. They are nice and cheap, too. It would be only around $100 for it.

-1988 Bronco II: Blue and silver with 8 shades of rust. The system costs more than the vehicle smile
-1999 SVT Contour: Silver Frost, tinted windows, stock for now...

I'm not too sure how prevelant the problem is, and like all quality issues, it was probably overblown. The Class A had a lower power rating into a 4 ohm load, but had the ability to produce the same power as the reference 1000 in high current situations.

I really like your choce in subs.
If it's in your range get a nice big Mcintosh amp. laugh
But if not I agree that the JBL BP 1200.1 is a
great value for the power.
Hope it works out well laugh

I had a soundstream reference 700, and it caught fire after minimal use. However, I also had a reference 300 and it worked great.
