Does anyone know anything about the new digital alpine amps that are out? I was planning on getting to of them (500 watts rms a piece) to power 2, 12" Alpine R-types... anyone have any comments or suggestions? anyone have any experience with the new amps yet?

Check the price, if they are any more expensive than the JBL BP series, I would encourage you to stick with the JBL. I believe that Alpines amps are Class T. You will never see the advantage of a tripath amp when using subs.

You can do better than the Alpine R-Type for it's price. I am the CEG's resident Alpine whore, so please don't take this as bashing. I would suggest

They are the best subwoofer you can buy at thier price point.

As for the Alpine amps, I have one of the older V12 models, the MRV-T757, and althogh it has given me a year of problem free service and sounds great, I still believe that for the same ammount you could do better.

Look into an older PPI amplifier, ar an a/d/s, they will be expensive for used amps but there is a reason for that. You obviously have a computer so Ebay would be the place to look

When choosing a subwoofer take into consideration
where it will be placed, how it be installed, the amount of space you're willing to give up for the box, and how much power. When you decide those things you'll know what Sub to buy (or at least narrow the selection).
I believe the AccuClass-D is a Class-D amp.
----------------------------------
Good things about amp;
1) digital technology allows for a greater signal voltage input (8.5V)
2) has time correction built in
3) subwoofer phase control built in
Bad things about amp;
1) it unfortunately ony has a 90dB S/N ratio
2) It also uses a digital low pass filter which is a bad idea for low frequencies
3) parametric eq is only selectable in +2db steps
4) really high current draw due to all the "features" the amp has
----------------------------------
Others will have a different opinion than me, but the choice should come down what is the amp going to be used for.
