I'm not sure how far I should go with this Dynamating? I asked my friends and they claim I'm fine, however I want to get some feedback from you guys. Here's the link to some pictures: http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/europeanconnection2002/lst?.dir=/System.

Thanks

Another place you probably want to put it is underneath the rear deck. I got a good bit of rattle from that area, so I removed the rear deck, stuffed all the little holes with some carpet padding/foam I had, and then I lined the whole rear deck with a piece of padding/foam the same dimensions as the rear deck. I put the rear deck back inplace, pushed down hard, and secured it with the factory "snaps". It worked great! I'm not sure how dynamat works, but just from what I see from your pics....foam might be better for the rear deck...but I could be wrong...that dynamat stuff is supposed to be really good....I'm just too cheap.....what can I say???

From what I saw you don't have much at all.

Being that I do NVH for Ford, I will give you recommendations on what "I think" most Contours need.

1. Cover the whole rear deck. The metal under the rear deck has holes in it that lets any sound in the trunk into the cars cabin. Adding Thinsulate in the space between the metal and rear package tray cover will help a great deal.

2. Being this is the audio section, I assume you have speakers in your doors. If I had speakers in my doors I would mount the speakers on MDF baffles, seal it to the door and cover the whole door panel and inner with dynomat and fill air gap between the inner and panel with Thinsulate.
This will increase sound quality by improving speaker performance and reduce exterior noise entering the car.

What you did is good for reducing road noise.

If you mount your sub box on dynomat and cover the box panels this will help reduce noise created by the sub. Loading the sound of the sub into the vehicle cabin instead of the trunk will reduce noise from the deck lid and rear package tray also.

Did you use that spray on dound deadener or just dynamat for the rear deck because it get ugly in that area. Were you using a heat gun? When you say I should stuff the rear deck with Thinsulate, what exactly do mean by that? Is that the material they put in pillows? Wouldn't that kill any sound coming from the sub? What's MDF? Sorry about all the questions, but the search option didn't really tell me what I needed to know.

Thanks

A less expensive and very comparable alternative... B-Quiet Sound Deadener if you navigate through the site you can see that they get good results from their product (many IASCA vehicles).

My roomate had 4-12s in his ranger and we used this to do his bed and the difference before and after is AMAZING!

When I get to this step in my installation process I will be using their product as well (and no I don't work for them wink ) They have more of a "variety," if you want to call it that. They have several different levels of deadener; composite foams, aluminum backed, liquid for spray/roll/paint on, AND they also sell dynamat. Another plus is all prices on their site include "FREE shipping by UPS ground"

I would have to agree with KnuKonceptz though, while it may be expensive the less metal showing the better.

This stuff says although you may it is not necessary to use a heat gun but it does make it more pliable

mdf = Medium Density Fibreboard
Hope this Helps.

www.mcmaster.com - "High Temp Mastic"

Pretty much the same stuff as dynamat, brown bread, B-Quiet, etc... at a fraction of the cost.

Have you tried any of this stuff "High Temp Mastic" or know anyone that has SVT Colin? Just curious as to its performance?

Oh that isn't really Dynamat. That's deathmetal sound deadner that I bought off ebay. I compared it to my friend's authentic Dynamat, and it's the same thing; thickness and everything. The only noticeable difference are the missing Dynamat logos. However, have any of you filled the rear deck? What did you use?
