Can anyone help with my problem. Several times I have went somewhere in my contour SVT and later when I get back into the car in wouldn't start. It doeen't make any noise. Everything works but cranking. I have to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes without trying to turn the car over and it will fire up. It has happened three or four days apart and then it stopped for three to four months.It has been about a month since it happened. I am just scared one of theses days it won't start.

bad cam sensor or ECT engine coolant sensor

what kind of spark plugs do u have?

I use motorcraft. Are those sensors where I can change them myself?

I have notice sometimes my anti theft light is not blinking but it starts blinking like it should. But still doesn't crank until about 10 to 15 minutes. At first I thought it might be in my key but my other key won't work either.

Welcome to CEG!

LowBudget is right if the engine cranks.

If the engine does not crank at all, first see if the PATS light flashes (passive anti theft system)when the key is inserted.

It could also be the start relay, the connection to the starter, or the starter itself.

The PAT light will be blinking sometimes not like it is suppose to. When it does get back to blinking normal then it will crank within 5 minutes. Yes the PATS usually is not right when it has happened.

Have you tried the other keys to the car?

As with any newer car you should have a minimum of 3 good keys.

If the othe keys give the same problem, obviously the security system in the car is the problem.

If that key is the problem, remember to copy and program a new key into the system.

Unless someone with experience can address this, please search. There are many threads on this.

Make certain that you have only ONE PATS key on the keychain at a time.

Sometimes, multiple keys at the inductive pickup loop around the ignition switch can interfere with each other.
