When it is arctic cold out (-20) It took my car almost 6 miles to lock in to overdrive. That's lettin' her warm up for 4-6 minutes. When it's a bit warmer (+20) it still takes up to 4-5 miles to lock down. My moms '01 Taurus does this to, hers can be worse, taking up to 6 miles as well.

Also, is this bad for my car, @ 55 I run 2750, 62 @ 3000, I don't push her any further until it's locked down. I do notice a massive drop in gas milage, from my norm 23.5-28.5 down to 21. For referance I have 68,800 miles w/out a tranny flush if that makes a differance.

how does it react when the temp is actually above freezing? I lived where you do I would have a block heater. There was one on ebay recently. keep that poor car warm man.
