First off what is the minimum you would power one with?

If you have heard one would you consider it a SQ or SPL or SPL/SQ sub.

Would it have to be in a ported enclosure?

Would you recommend it to someone with SQ with SPL on the back burner?

This is my dilemma:
Been debating Selling my 2 10" ADS woofers, just not too happy with them. (Although it could be the enclosure)

1st:So I can sell them and get another set of woofers build a new box.

2nd:Or build a new box w/ for the ADS woofers test them out if I still am not happy sell them and purchase new subs.

But My only problem is if I get a Brahma I can only afford one smile So if I was to do the 2nd option I would be wasting $ on an enclosure?

Decisions Decision?

The Adire Audio Brahma is probably the best sub you can get to go Boom boom boom, and make your head cave in. I don't know how it is for SQ but SPL wise it is the ****.

You could always get 2 Lambda Accoustics PB12s and have really exceptional SQ and more than adequate thump to go with it. Oh yeah, I feel obliged to also tell you to buy an Alpine HU because it's just what I do laugh

I have thier PB15 in the Focus right now. I gotta say it is quality equipment.

You can see them at

http://www.stryke.com

or to be more specific

http://www.stryke.com/SAL-PB12.html

I saw a video of the Brahma once, that thing is insane, I think Dnewma04 has that video somewhere. laugh

Oh yeah, btw, Aline has just dispatched an agent to your location to brainwash you as they did me. They also dispatched an agent to my location to kill me for revealing thier brainwashing schemes... The End.

The Brahma was designed as a SQ sub that just happens to have huge SPL capabilities. It's effeciency is fairly low (84 dB for the 12) and really it's designed for very small sealed enclosures. In SPL applications, a ported box would be recommended. The right ported box would also sound great.

I agree with Honkey's recommendation of the Lambda if SQ is your goal. You could get two tens or 12s for the Price of the brahma and end up with much more effeciency than the Brahma. But, if you have 2000w on tap for the sub, by all means, get the Brahma.

How Power hungry are the Lambda's?

They are not. I can play the PB15 with my Phoenix Gold QX2180 (55Wx2 using both voice coils) and it sounds just fine, although clipping will occur at lower levels than if you had more power to give. I run it off an Alpine MRV T-757 which supplies around 300W RMS (750MAX) and it sounds phenominal. I can imagine that with an even higher quality amplifier you could achieve absolutely breathtaking results with The PB subwoofers.

Depending on the size, the effeciency is in the 87-88 dB range. Combine that will twice the cone area, you are over 90. It would take 4 times as much amplifier power to get the Brahma to the same output level as two Lambdas.
