alarm never worked since I bought the car two years ago. It worked the day I first looked at the car and now after the car needed to be jumped(left lights in long term parking) alarm is working.
But it becomes set 30 seconds after turning car off. I have no idea how to change. I turn off when say putting groceries in the trunk but by the time i close trunk that triggers the alarm. Driving me crazy

anyone?

contours didn't have factory alarms, look under your dash for the brain of your alarm then you can find out what it is and look for directions online

So you have the remote for it and everything? Try leaving a door open as you put the groceries in. If it's like my alarm that'll do the trick. Also if it's like my alarm, you'll have a "valet" button hidden somewhere (mine isn't hidden, since really without having already disarmed the alarm or having the key for the car, it wouldn't do a thief any good). You can use this button to completely turn off the alarm (disarm alarm, then hold the button, you should get a confirmation of some sort). You can also use it to turn the alarm off if your remote doesn't work, put key into ignition then hit the button. That's only if it's like mine though, your's could be completely different. Also the valet button may never have been installed. If you wanna change the settings (another function of the button)/get the button added, you probably would want to go to an alarm shop.

like brapple said, i'd look under the dash and should find the brain of the alarm. if they did a good job installing it, it'd be a little hard to find.. but with that info you will be able to find instructions and will be able to progrm your alarm. at least find out what brand it is so you can ask the manufacturer.
my old alarm used to do that, automatically locks after 30 secs.. i reprogrammed it.
