Whats the max spray jet we can use on the 2.0 without internal work?
Assuming proper chip, timing, etc. mods...

Somewhere it said 50% of the engine output.

So that would be 50 or 60hp jet?

Though thats interesting info...I really don't believe the 2.0 can handle a 300 shot

osentinelo was not born yesterday.

so please like I said no internal work real world ability of the engine close to stock?

A stock block Focus Zetec has done 300whp with 115octane and a turbo only, or a mix of boost and nitrous, so since our engines are internally identical, it's theoretically possible to do a 200shot.

However, the tuning would have to be perfect, you'd have to run it dry because there is a good likely hood of having a nitrous backfire with that big a wet shot. Also there would be a good chance of backfire even dry, so you'd have to direct port it and it's not a good idea to direct port the stock plastic manifold, so you'd need the ford racing aluminum intake manifold. And with those cylinder pressures, any mistake and the rods are toast.

50% of rated HP is the "rule of thumb" for nitrous on any car.
I know for a fact the Zetec can take a 100HP shot with the right tuning.
And I'll bet 125HP isn't out of the question (although probably not for more than a few times).
I have varied between 55, 65, and 75HP shots for a bit over 2.5 years (say 40+ bottles) with no problems at all.
The Zetec really does respond well to nitrous.

That being said, on to the warning......

The Zetec has hypereutectic pistons,
which is the least desirable pistons to run with nitrous,
(and one of the most desirable for turbos and s/c's).
Any detonation of nitrous (regardless of HP shot) will shatter the pistons like a hammer on glass.

Once you pass 100HP shot the combustion chamber temps really start to climb quickly and other problems start to become an issue.
Anything over 150HP is out of the question without internal work.

It's not the pistons that "shatter", it's the RODs. Assuming you got deto that didn't snap the rods, then the piston RINGs would go first. The actual pistons themselves would be the last go to.

That being said, if you kept the detonation in check using good tuning and HIGH octane gas. Kept the EGTs under 1600F, the engine wouldn't break. A lot of people called BS when the first stock block Focus did 300whp stock internals, but when it was announced it was done on racing gas there were less doubts. Then, people were wondering how long the engine would last. It lasted around 3000mi before the owner decided to build up the engine and run 400+whp.

The Zetec is surprisingly robust, provided you keep Deto in check, using either good tuning, High Octane gas or both. Any deto over 150whp and the engine is toast.

the performance tuning place i use in the UK (who is also a wizards of NOS dealer) has a mk1 mondeo 2.0 zetec, stock engine, with 125BHP wet nitrous kit (progressive). it has been in there for a few years and he has had no problems (apart from when he hit the nos switch with the caravan on and burnt the clutch out lol)

he said over 100bhp jets you must have a progressive controller and braided lines - and remember its for short spurts otherwise spark plugs begin to melt and then its bye bye valves (i found this out the hard way with 75bhp jets on a track day to my dismay ) - if you want pro-longed use for around a track the fuelling needs winding up.
