Trying to help my Mom out...

She has a '96 and her instrument panel is dark. It looks like the bulb is burned out, rather than the fuse. My uncle is trying to fix it for her and can't quite figure out how the panel is removed. Can anyone provide and hints or links?

Thanks
Paul

Instrument panel being dark makes it sound like all the bulbs are out, which makes it sound like a fuse or wiring issue.

In my 99 the fuse for interior lights I believe is different than the fuse for the dash/panel lights.

dash or instrument panel lights are hooked up to the power wire that goes on when lights are turned on, orange on my 99 as I recall.

About 5 years ago most of the interior lights (specifically all of the dash lights) went out on my 96SE. Ford fixed it for free the very next day. It turns out there was a Factory Recall that addressed this. I seem to remember that it had something to do with the headlight/fog light switch or a relay associated with it.

The new part they put in was apparently beefier -- the problem has not reoccurred since.
