well since the idle problem has been solved in my car, I'm going to probably keep it for a couple of more years now, and sell the mx-3 due to insurance reasons.

but anywho, I've got 2 problems, #1.. my brakes are going wacky on me!!! the back tires lock up EASY, and my front ones dont even lock up at all.... infact my front brakes aren't even working! if I'm going around a turn and I hit the breaks the ass end of the car slides out like I'm doing a fishtail with my e brake! I'm not even touching my e brake! I don't know what the hell is wrong fluid looks good... no leaks. altough I have been drifting alot.. if that caused the problem

another problem, all the sudden my gas milages has dropped alot, I'm only getting about 135 km's to 15 bucks of gas. 20 bucks gets me 250... on hwy driving.

it has dropped big time, and its annoying me because the cars runs great now! whats the first things I should start to replace? going from the cheapest to the most expensive

thanks in advance

Derek.

seems to me there is an old old post around here about Contours parking brakes sticking when the temp gets below freezing. You say you don't have the e-brake on, but maybe you do and don't know it. did you search the FAQ and/or the forum histories?

I would also guess the two are related.

Find a nice warm spot & park it over night. You might solve both problems with a good thawing out....

If your brakes aren't dragging any more, your gas mileage will go back to normal. The dragging rear brakes were the whole problem, I think. You might want to check the pads/shoes some time soon...

My e-brake cable was frozen and the right side was draggin, cost me about 2.5 mpg, not an easy fix but manageable if you have to replace the cable. It is not adjustable that I know of.
