My mechanic, an engineer for ford in Michigan, who was partially responsible for the design and testing of the 24v 2.5 engine, was looking at my badly running tour (95 lx v6) the other day. The symptoms are stalling out, not holding an idle. I have just over 130k on her. He was telling me, and my father, who works for ford NPDC, and has access to all diagrams and such, as well as parts, that the "ego sensor" was most likely the cause of this irradiac and unattainable idle. Has anyone heard of this sensor, or had this problem. To me, it seems like someone put a bananna in my tail pipe, it just conks out after starting. I was thinking cats, since it is original, but obviously this guy nows way more than me...any insight?

HEGO sensor = Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor.

EGO would be unheated. We have HEGO.

I'd agree the pre-cats could certainly be plugged up. That is fairly common, especially on the older models.

Either that or he meant to say EGR, which will also cause rough running.
