I am currently living on the frozen tundra of Alaska and I was wondering if anybody could suggest some good winter tires for me to buy. My current tire size is 205/40/17.

Thanks Aksvt00

Bridgestone Blizzak
Dunlop Graspic DS2 (or something like that)

I'd stick with either of those.

i just bought bridgestone blizzak WS50s for my tour, they're pretty nice.

However, I had Michelin Arctic Alpins on previous car, it had LSD so might have made a difference but they're awesome. i think the Pilot Alpins are the same thing, they just changed the name. costs a little more than blizzaks but i think worth the money. Next time around i'm going to go back to the alpins.

check out www.tirerack.com, they have a bunch of reviews which i based my decision on.. blizzak's were among the top so i went with those.
you might consider Studded though since you prob have a lot more snow..

Hakkapeliitta. They might be a special order, but they are amazing. By far the best non-studded snow tire. Their studded version is also very high in the ratings, although I have no experience with it. These tires make my girlfriend's MB 190E easy to dive in the snow. That is no mean feat.

Aren't the Hakkapeliitta's very expense like $200 per tire? When I was shopping I though STS has in stock for something like that.

Yes, they are mad expensive. I don't bother in PA, but in Alaska it might be a sound investment.
