I've had a Sony head unit model CDX-CA810X for over a year, and recently, I discovered that the harness from Sony which plugs into the stereo had a wire loose. It controlled the driver's front door speaker, and I need a new harness. Does anyone know where I can purchase a new harness for the CDX-CA810X?

My second question is how can I use an auxilliary source? I have a laptop I want to play through the stereo, but the only audio output it has is a small headphone jack. I soldered a headphone jack to some RCA wires, and put the wires into the "AUDIO IN" RCA jacks on the back of the receiver- no dice. Anyone know how to make it work?

Thanks in advance-
Charlie White

Ebay is your friend. All Sony harnesses are generally the same. Compare your pin outs with the number on Ebay and buy the corresponding model that fits your HU.

Agghh. i had a website addy of a company that sold these off-the-wall electronics pieces, like wiring harnesses. and cheap too. i cant remember it! you could punch in the HU's model # and it would give you a part # which you could then compare and contrast with other HU's. Ill see if my buddy still has it and if he does ill put it up here.

oh yeah, like fmr said, most are the same, except for the high end shiz.

I would like to get one of those adapters from ebay, but can anyone assure me that I'll be able to use it?

Just go to a stereo shop they should be able to get it for you and you might not have to wait.

You can't use the AUX inputs in the back directly; I believe the head unit actually uses the Unilink hook up to determine that it has a Sony device connected.

Need a Sony Aux controller box ($50-100?) or if you have a changer, put an RCA splitter/switch inline with the changer. When the head unit is in CD-changer mode, just switch the connection to your own device.
