I was planning on running 215/45/17s on my 17x7.5 wheels. But I see several CEGers are running 225s. Can I get some feedback from you guys running the 225s? I've run the 215s, and wished for a little more sidewall at the time (for bump absorption). Any clearance issues? I see the 225s are 24.9" in diameter, the same as the stock 205/55/16s.

TIA

I'm running 225/45/17 however I rub badly in the rear. May be the offset of my rim thats causing that because many other CEGers have run that same size and haven't really experienced any rubbing.

p.s. rims have 40mm offset

Did you roll the fender where it rubs? It's a 5 minute job!

nothing like the old baseball bat fender rolling trick...lol

i have a 225/45ZR/17 they are wonderful, i dont rub with them at all, and they do give you more sidewall and a bit of protection for the wheel(17x7)

a baseball bat. stick the end where you hold it into the wheel gap and just work the tabs up with it, pretty simple.

The problem area is not the top of the arch, like most people think. It's the tab of material toward the back of the arch, righ where the bumper seam is. Roll the [censored] up as much as you can and your rubbing problems will be gone.

I'm running 225/45-17s that are on stock offset wheels, 49.5. I have NO issues.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I just bought Focus SVT 5 spoke 17 inch wheels to put on the CSVT and have the same question. I just bought them and they are sitting in their boxes in the garage. I was planning on putting on 215s to minimize any rubbing issues.
