I just got some 16" rims for my tour, and am going to need new tires for them come spring. I'm nearly positive they are 7.0 wide, and I'll probably stick with 205/55/16 like are on them now. It seems to be a good balance between ride and handling, and fits the rim very well. If anyone has reasons they run different sizes on 16x7s, I'd like to hear them, though. I keep an agressive all-season on my 14" steels for winter, so all I care about is dry grip and rain performance. I see quite a bit of rain so they need to have good planing resistance. Anyway, this is getting long winded: anybody running an affordable summer tire they would like to reccomend? I was looking at Kuhmo (sp?) and other cheapies on tirerack, as well as goodyear and dunlop from sam's club.

Dont get the really cheap khumo tires on tirerack. I have the ecsta supra 712's and they squeal way too much. The original BF Goodrich KDW's were great, just a little noisy once they wore down too much.

I here that toyo proxes 4 are very good on dry and wet. I'll be buying some soon for summer time. Edge Racing has them for $78.

They ARE good. I vote for the Toyo T1-S if you can still get them.

I've got BF Goodrich G-Force Sports on my car right now - 225/45-17. All I've got to say is, WOW! Great tire. Check out the ratings on tirerack.com for more info. The're almost as grippy as the KDW-IIs, but have a much better treadwear rating & are more quiet and the ride is comfortable. I really expected it to be much more harsh.
I've broken them in, and have started to test their limits on the street, but I have yet to break them free on good pavement. Of course, this is south Florida, so lotsa good pavement laying around...
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

yeah s-03's are great tires if you're rich.. if not try the new fuzion zri's made by bridgestone firestone. I work for firestone and install these every day they're nice tires and dirt cheap.

I have cooper zeon zpt's and I really like them. They grip well in the rain and on dry pavement. The wear is ok on them for being a softer tread.
