Hey folks - was lot-hopping the other night and found an SVT that looks like a pretty strong candidate (since I actually need to get one), its a '98, but for some reason, it doesn't have any fog lights. Is this common on early-model '98's or some kind of goofy option? And how difficult would it be to install the stock fog lights if I were to get that car?

Welcome to CEG. The car you describe is weird sounding. Does it even have the bumper cut-outs for the fog lamps? Some pix would help. Also, you may want to change your sig before our moderators change it for you... just a suggestion.

Yeah, it has the bumper cutouts for the fogs. I'll take the digital with tonight and get some pictures.

Oh, in that case, it's easy to install the lights. Don't buy them from the dealer though. See if you can find them on CEG, a junkyard, or some other means. Does it look like they need the brackets as well?

I haven't really checked it out up close, I didn't feel like crawling around in snow and ice in the middle of the night. I'll see if I can eyeball it tonight or tomorrow.

You don't have to crawl around. Just kneel and stick your hand in the foglamp hole. You'll be able to feel if there is a bracket there or not.

Hmm. That's weird. Maybe whoever had the car before had some aftermarket ones on there. He probably took them out when he got rid of it. I've never seen an SVT without foggies. There's gotta be some brackets on there so if I were you I wouldnt even bother checking it.

Well, its dark and my digital doesn't do the greatest at night, BUT . . . this sure as hell looks like a non-SVT bumper to me.

fog lights can be had for less than 30 bucks in most cases. i wouldnt worry about something like that, the svt front bumper has a much wider lower grill area betwen the fog lights than a normal contour.
