This would have no affect on up/down but you would lose am reception. FM would be ok in area of strong stations. If you want antenna always down simply pull black 8 pin connector from antenna control module mounted to antenna mast in trunk. EDIT: See note on later post re connector color.

Buy a SONY unit! Mine automatically brings down the antenna when in CD mode. You may want to check if your unit has this capability or not. If your running the trigger wire from the HU it will control the whole operation.
If anyone was following my follies with the power antenna, it's done! Installed an after market, Harada unit, today. Ironically enough its the same piece as the Ford OEM but with a slightly different wiring set up. Works like a charm!

to beat a dead horse here, take the power antenna wire from the hu and split it, running each end to the switch of choice. once u split it did u extend the wiring by soldering on some more wiring to reach the switch.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

If your HU has "traffic info" and it is on turn it off the antenna should go down.

OK if you simply want OEM antenna to stay down:
Peel back carpet at pass side of trunk to reveal antenna mast/motor assembly. You will see one coaxial rf (radio frquency) cable that comes from front of car and plugs into a socket on base of antenna mast. You will also see a brown plastic antenna module box mounted to antenna mast with a black electrical connector. (There is a connector that also goes to just beside motor - ignore). The wires to the black connector come from driver's side of car, running across rear of trunk.
Disconnect black connector to prevent antenna up/down operation. Connectors usually require a plastic locking tab to be released before and while you are pulling apart.
EDIT: See note on later post re connector color

hmouta - There's enough slack in the harness to add the switch with extending the wire length. You are only moving it a couple of inches.

I have a WHITE connector that goes into the Brown plastic modedule box. (You listed to pull out a BLACK connector) Am I not looking in the right spot? I tried to pull out the WHITE connector from the box, but it didn't happen. The plug is well in there like it's not supposed to be removed or something. (I know that there is a lil lock release)
