Yes, let's act like there were no terrorists there before. al-Zarqawi would be a small business owner had we not invaded. I'd rather have the terrorists breeding where we have big guns than where they could run free and do whatever they want.

While "Freedom is on the March", how do you guys picture Iraq a year or two from now: Will it be a theocracy, rather like Iran? Will a secular military coup take over? Will it still be too fragmented to run itself so we're stuck to stay and babysit? Or will it be a shining model of democracy that gives the middle east and the third world a tantalizing scent of harmony and prosperity, like the 60,000,000 people who voted for Bush were hoping for?

Quote:
Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists
This is NOT ness a bad thing.
Afganistan is a worst case senerio with its intractable mountainous terrain and isolated tribal culture that is ideal to hide bad guys. Just as the Russians. We have about 7X the manpower in Iraq c/w Afganistan and foriegn jihaddists are not ness as welcome by Iraqi's who are certainly becoming tired of the incessant murder of there citizens by foriegners.
Another way one could look at this info is that perhaps Iraq is becoming popular to jihaddits mainly because "good ol" Afganistan, being further down the road to democracy, is in point of fact becoming LESS hospitable to "would be jihaddists". This would predict that as democracy takes finally hold in Iraq the same will occur there..and the bad guys are forced to move again...

I will be shocked if we can get the kurds in the North, the sunnis in the West, and [censored] of the South to cooperate in forming a democracy. We don't have a choice at this point. Their history of agression towards each other will be hard to overcome. In the end we may have to settle for an Iraq divided into three countries.
