A DVC sub just gives you more wiring options which will help draw the most power out of your amp.
What amp are you using and how many subs will you be using?

i might go with audiobahn and i would be using three of them hopefully two facing up and one facing down.i was told that make it feel like the ground is shaking when u drive bye.but i;m not sure about it.so dvc is better to get more power right.

I got DVC and it worked for my old amp but now i am getting about half that power to the subs from my new amp Went from 180 to 90w a sub. Still sound ok but not as good as before. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/index.asp

SVT colin is correct. It all depends on your setup, especially your amp. To start simple, lets say you have one 10" svc sub. Your amp is a 200w mono bass amp, and is stable at 2 ohms. Because the sub is svc, it will be running at 4 ohms(assuming the sub is a 4 ohm sub) and receiving 200w from the amp. Now, if the 10"sub was a dvc sub, you could wire the the system to run at 2 ohms, which is less impedence, meaning that each coil of the sub would get 200w,and there are 2 coils. So in theory, the dvc sub would be getting 2x the power(400w) than the svc sub(200w) using the same amplifier. The sound quality won't be quite as good at 2 ohms, but it really doesn't seem to matter with a subwoofer, because you can't really tell the difference. Now things can get really messy if you are running 3 DVC subs, especially depending on your amp The other thing you have to take into consideration is the work load of the amp. The amp will work harder under 2 ohms then it will at 4 ohms. For some amps this is fine, for others it can cause problems, like over heating, shuting off, damamge, and what not. Most mono amps and other amps designed to power subwoofers will be stable at 2 ohms, but you must check before you buy. Another good idea is to mount the amp in a spot in your car that has good circulation, buy an amp with a fan built in it, or rig up a fan or two to cool your amp. Good luck!

Here's an example using three DVC subs.
Let's say you buy three DVC subs. Each VC on the subs are 3ohms.
You'll then wire the two VCs on each sub in series producing a total load of 6ohms for each sub.
Next, you'll wire the subs in parallel to the amp in parallel for a total ohm load of:
1/R = 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6
R = 2ohms
Finally, find an amp that is stable into a 2ohm mono load. You'll probably want a very powerful mono sub amp.

Here's an example of using three SVC subs. Generally, SVC subs are 4ohms.
You'd wire the subs in parallel to the amp for a total load of:
1/R = 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4
R = 1.33ohms
You'll then need to find an amp which is stable into a 1.33ohm mono load (round down to 1ohm to make sure it's stable). You'll more likely spend more money for a 1ohm stable amp, have less of a selection, and might possibly have more heat dissipation/distortion problems to deal with.

bkent has the Audiobahn 2200HC amp powering 2 Audiobahn Dual 4 ohm 12s at 1 ohm. The amp is 1 ohm stable and 1600W. Cost him about $350 shipped IIRC. Very loud.

I have a new a.d.s. 8 channel x 50 @ 4 ohms. If I am bi-amping my front a.d.s. 345's, running coaxial in the rear, would DVC be a good choice for the sub? One sub or two? Box or freeair. Thanks
PS any sugestions on placement of amp.
