I've conducted some modest research on the topic, but I have yet to find a clear-cut response. So, adding an SVT LIM to my non-SVT (98) Contour alone, without an SVT UIM to match, would not only be ineffective, but detrimental to my car's performance. But, if I were to eventaully acquire a SVT UIM (which I plan on), it would be beneficial in the long run. Correct? Any insight is welcome as money is tight and I need to have priorities. Thanks in advance.

Just an FYI: I believe 1999 and later SVTs had larger lower-intake runners than the 98s.

If you do the lower, you will want to do the upper at the same time. Why do the same job twice?? Don't think the lower will do much if anything without the upper.

The problem with any stock engine is the small head ports.

SVT engines had the heads Extrude Honed (amount year dependant) which enlarged the ports noticeably. (couple mm)

A larger UIM or LIM will have little effect when the head inlets ports are the bottleneck. (i.e. smaller in diameter)
