im an idiot, i bought some cheap xenon bulbs from bestbuy, 100watt ones and burnt out the headlight wiring (i think) because the old bulbs wont work either. my question is do i need to replace just the connector to the bulb or all of the wire? and where can i get the items i need. Its my dad's car and hes on vacation and i dont want him to kill me when he gets back

Make sure you check all the fuses, if your lucky you just popped em, if you really did fry the wiring it won't be an easy fix.

100 watt bulbs will burn out the wiring. Like the guy said, check the fuses first, then the connectors by the bulbs.

If it's not the fuse(s), check the headlight relay(s?) as well. It(they?) might have gotten cooked. Also, if the wiring is damaged, it may just be the terminals in the connector at the headlight. At least one person on here has run 100W highbeams for over a year with no problem. I have had 100W Hella bulbs in for a couple of months and haven't had any problems yet...

Next to the battery you will see a small black box. Open that, the inside of the lid will have labels to the fuses that you will need to check. Fuses 15 and 16 control the lowbeams, fuses 17 and 18 control the highbeams. Also check the relays because I cant see you blowing both fuses at the exact same time. Sitting next to the lowbeam fuses (closer to the battery) there will be a small relay. That controls the lowbeams, it should be white. Sitting behind it will be another relay, that is for your highbeams, it should also be white. If you still have brights, the fuses for the lowbeams are good, swap the relays. This will at least buy you some time until you can pick up a new relay.

I doubt you have fried the wiring but if you have, it will be a bear to replace. I looked at the one on my parts car and even with the engine removed I didnt want to take it out. Being that I was outside and it was below freezing probably didnt help much either.

If you fried the wiring there should be an acrid bad nasty ordor. Take a sniff around the headlight area and if you get that acrid, not typical car, smell then you can start cuss'n.
